Shaw Laureates in Life Science and Medicine 2009 won Lasker Award

The Shaw Laureates in Life Science and Medicine 2009, Douglas L Coleman and Jeffrey M Friedman won the Lasker Award 2010 for Basic Medical Research. They are being honoured for discoveries that led to the identification of letpin, a hormone that regulates appetite and body weight.

Since 1945, the Lasker Awards program has recognized the contributions of scientists, physicians, and public servants around the world who have made major advances in the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of human disease.
